100,000 balloons fill London’s Covent Garden

Artist Charles Petillon filled London’s Covent Garden market with 100,000 white balloons as part of London Design Festival, on Thursday. Balloon installation entitled ‘Heartbeat’ stretches over 54 metres (117 feet) in length and 12 metres (39 feet) in width in the south hall of historic market building. Pulses of light going through the balloons symbolize a beating heart, according to Petillon. It is the first time that Petillon’s work has been displayed in public outside of France. The luminous balloon installation will reportedly stay in Covent Garden for a month.
