11-year-old cancer patient ‘flies’ first class in hospital ward

Like other kids her age, Kong Ling dreams of flying around the world and exploring seas and sceneries lying beyond the horizon. But, unlike most of her age mates, the 11-year-old is hospital bed bound.
Kong has been battling with ovarian cancer, and her health status does not allow her to leave the hospital that has been her second home in northwest China’s Shaanxi Province. But on Wednesday, the young girl got the chance to soar to cloud nine when volunteers from China Eastern Airlines took her on a trip of a lifetime, by replicating an on-board experience in her hospital room. She was presented with a ticket and had her seatbelt fastened, before cabin crew members served the in-flight meal. Kong was also gifted a model of the aircraft she was “flying” on. Best part of the flight? No air turbulence and she gets to board this jet every day.
