13,700 officers from Rio state police to be on duty daily as Olympics approach

The heavy security presence on the streets and beaches of Rio de Janeiro was apparent as the military police in the Olympic host city has stepped up security to try and bring a greater sense of ease among competitors and visitors. Brazilian authorities have also been working with several countries, including France and the US, to improve security and deal with the potential threat of terrorism.
