Nearly 150 tons of smuggled frozen meat has been confiscated in southwest China’s Guizhou Province.
The meat, including beef, steak, and chicken feet, was seized from four trucks in Liupanshui city, estimated to be worth over 950,000 U.S. dollars.
Drivers of the vehicles could not provide inspection and quarantine documents for the goods, neither did they disclose information about the cargo’s provider and receiver.
According to descriptions on the packages, the meat was mainly smuggled in from Brazil, the U.S. and Germany.
Police say the smuggled goods will be destroyed in bulk if no one comes forward to claim them.
