One fifth of adults living in New York City will likely suffer from a mental health disorder.
That’s according to a report released Thursday by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
The report also noted that approximately 8 percent of adult New Yorkers experience symptoms of depression each year.
Moreover, depression and substance abuse amount to $14 billion in estimated annual productivity losses in New York City according to the report.
The report states that the numbers illustrate a mental health crisis in the Big Apple.
