200 harbor seals migrate to China’s east coast from northern Russia

Dozens of harbor seals have been spotted on islands off Yantai city in east China’s Shandong Province. They are believed to be the first pod of seals this year to migrate from the icy regions of northern Russia. About 200 seals make the journey every year, traveling through the Bering Strait and the Sea of Okhotsk. The animal is under China’s state-level protection.
