2022 is still more than two years away, but it’s never too soon to think about the 2022 Winter Olympics… the committee has just unveiled the official mascot, selected from a field of ten. And the winner is ” Bing Dwen Dwen (冰墩墩)”! It’s a panda wearing an icy costume, representing pureness, persistence as well as liveliness and cuteness. The selection process started in August last year, with designs being solicited from all over the world. The committee received almost 6,000 submissions, then whittled them down to 10 finalists. In April, experts from a cross-section of society met to discuss. Mascots first appeared at the 1968 Winter Games in France. Since then, they’ve been a beloved part of the Olympics.
