23 killed after troops clash with Muslim rebels in the Philippines

At least 23 people have been killed and 53 wounded as Philippine soldiers battled 120 Muslim rebels linked to the Islamic State on a southern Philippine island.  The 10-hour assault took place on the island of Basilan led by Isnilon Hapilon , leader of the terrorist group Abu Sayyaf. There was no immediate statement from the group. However, they have posted videos on social media sites pledging allegiance to the Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria.
