23 people die after Taiwan earthquake

At least 23 people have died after a quake that hit southern Taiwan on Saturday.

Among them, 21, including 6 children, died due to the collapse of the Wei Guan building in Tainan city.

The 17-story apartment building was toppled after the quake.

Rescuers are racing against the time to save more than 120 people who are still trapped in the rubble of the bloc.

Some of the island’s high-speed rail lines have suspended operations.
