Floods in the city of Xingtai in North China’s Hebei Province have left 25 people dead and 13 are still missing. Heavy rain hit the city initially on Tuesday, and triggered an average precipitation level of 167 millimeters over the following 48 hours. It was as high as 350 millimeters in some areas of the city. Flooding affected 21 counties and more than 760,000 people. Nearly 90,000 people were forced to relocate. More than 4,000 houses collapsed. Direct economic losses are estimated to be about 650 million yuan, or nearly 100 million US dollars.
