“It was a very tedious process, and stressful truthfully. About two or three months ago, we started training and practicing. Yes, there were falls and frustrations because we were not that good at these things. Fortunately, we performed well today and got a nice result.”
Lion dance is a traditional folk performance in China symbolizing happiness and luck. It can usually be seen during celebrations for the Spring Festival, wedding and business opening.

“This is the second tournament. Last year we did the first. We have been improving year after year. Our experience has been really encouraging. Many people have been watching this tournament and they like it a lot. What we want to do is conveying the Chinese culture and tradition to Mexico and the Mexicans.”
Mexico is the first Latin American country where national tournament of lion dance is held on annual basis, thanks to the efforts and dedication made by generations of Chinese immigrants.
