A massive heap of endangered wildlife, sold for a song.
These hammerhead sharks were seen stacked at a wharf in Sanya, south China’s Hainan Province on Saturday morning.
Witnesses say there were nearly 100 of them, which were sold at about two dollars a kilo.
The dead hammerheads caused quite a stir on social media, as many netizens posted pictures and videos of them online.
And shortly afterwards, the sharks were confiscated by the local fisheries department.
