31 countries sign accord during UN General Assembly

Climate change has also been on the agenda at the UN General Assembly. During the meeting, another 31 countries signed the Paris Agreement to curb greenhouse gas emissions. Those countries included Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico, as well as major fossil fuel producers Brunei and the United Arab Emirates. The agreement will come into force once it has been ratified by 55 countries, accounting for at least 55% of worldwide greenhouse gas emissions.
