44 rescued from flooded tunnel in SW China

Heavy rains caused flooding at a tunnel on an expressway in southwest China’s Guizhou Province on Thursday night.

Dozens of people were trapped as their cars, trucks and a bus were submerged by the rising deluge.

Firefighters used long ropes to rescue the trapped travelers, and freed more than 20 passengers from the bus by ripping off a roof vent.

All 44 people were rescued from the tunnel, and no casualties were reported.
