5 people stranded by floodwater in scenic park

Firefighters in southwest China’s Guilin City on Thursday rescued five people stranded in a scenic park by floodwater.

The five, all local residents, were fishing in the Chuanshan Park, a famous attraction in one of China’s best-known tourist cities.

But downpours led to a sudden rise of the water level in Li River, trapping the five in a tree.

The stranded residents were rescued more than five hours after the raging torrents came.
