Syrian government forces and rebels have agreed to evacuate nearly 5,000 residents and fighters from the besieged Damascus suburb of Daraya. Humanitarian conditions have deteriorated rapidly since July as violence continues to escalate. According to UN estimates, nearly 300,000 people in eastern Aleppo and 1.5 million others in the city’s west have been affected. They have been lacking basic supplies and electricity for over a month.
