A look at the new generation of entrepreneurs in Xinjiang

The Chinese government is working to create stability and economic development in China’s far western Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region through providing young people with more jobs, giving them a stake in their future. Today, in our Xinjiang series, Han Bin profiles Almas Polat, a young Uygur entrepreneur in the regional capital Urumqi. Polat says the problem is not a lack of job opportunities, but basic job skills and new ways of thinking. He says making money should not be the only motivation to make changes, and it’s more meaningful to share the benefit of development with all of society.
