Abe shuns direct apology for Japan’s wartime crimes

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe issued a statement on Friday to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II.

In the statement, Abe mentioned the Japanese government’s previous apology, but added that it is unnecessary for Japan’s future generations to keep apologizing for its atrocities during World War II.

Abe said Japan has apologized for the previous war and the country will maintain stances of the previous governments.
