Aid delivered to Siberian area hit by anthrax outbreak

Russia’s Emergency Ministry delivered aid to areas affected by the recent anthrax outbreak in the Yamal-Nenets autonomous region, Wednesday, as part of the ongoing operation to contain the spread.

Among the air-lifted supplies provided by Russia’s Emergency Ministry are support camps equipped with life-support medical equipment, heating, tents, beds and goods for the infected.

Anthrax is a potentially deadly bacteria that is usually transmitted to humans from animal matter, with the last such anthrax outbreak in Siberia taking place 75 years ago in 1941.
