Alberta wildfire puts Canada’s oil-dependent economy in hot water

The wildfire in Alberta Province has grown enormously in recent days. The inferno has forced Canadian oil producers to slash their output by one million barrels a day as they were forced to shut down operations and pipelines, dealing a fresh blow to the oil-dependent economy. The sweeping fire not only creates a loss of tens of millions of dollars per day, but also strains the country’s economy, which hasn’t healed from the recent crash in oil prices.
