Aleppo girl thanks JK Rowling for sending Harry Potter ebooks

A seven-year-old Syrian girl who attracted the world’s attention with her tweeting and social media dispatches from Aleppo seems to be forming a burgeoning Twitter relationship with JK Rowling after the famous author sent a collection of Harry Potter ebooks.

Bana Alabed from eastern Aleppo uploaded a thank you picture saying she had received the ebooks last Wednesday. Rowling tweeted Alabed back saying “’Bana, this made me so happy! Lots of love to you and your brothers! #StandWithAleppo.”

On Tuesday of last week, Alabed had uploaded a video of her walking around the destruction in her home city. She also tweeted Rowling telling her that she enjoyed Harry Potter and asking if she could get a book.

On Monday, Bana’s mother Fatemah tweeted that she had been injured when her home was bombed the night before and that her family is now “on the run.”
