Along the Long March Route: Artists strive to revive local thangka art

The route of the Long March passed through remote areas of western Sichuan, known for their Tibetan Buddhist temples which are home to centuries-old thangka paintings, colorful Buddhist artworks painted on cloth. Thangka art is a craft that has traditionally been practiced in regions where Tibetan Buddhism has historically flourished, but it takes on a distinctive style of its own in Sichuan Province’s Luhuo County. As CCTV’s Tao Yuan reports, this unique style is in urgent need of protection.
