Three decades ago, a teenager, started planting Bamboo in an area that had been washed away by floods. Today, that same area has become a sprawling forest spread across 1300 acres of land. The jungle is called ‘Molai forest’ named after Jadav Molai Payeng, the man who made this possible single handedly! That forest is now home to animals such as the Bengal tigers, Indian rhinoceros and a variety of deers. It is also home to thousands of trees and plants that have increased the flow of migratory birds in that region. Known as the ‘Forest man of India’, the Molai forest is his life. He lives in a small hut in the forest with his wife and children and has dedicated his life to save the environment and the eco-system.
