Anna Hazare has written to the ex-servicemen demanding implementation of the One-Rank-One-Pension (OROP) extending his full support to the movement. Hazare in his letter has said that he completely supports the cause and is with them in their endeavor. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar is expected to meet ex-servicemen today over the implementation of the OROP scheme. Ex-servicemen are expected to seek assurances that the provisions of the scheme won’t be diluted and date of implementation. The Government has maintained that it is committed to OROP, a key promise made during elections. The government has already promised that ? 8,300 crores would be kept aside for pensions. Currently, the pension for ex-servicemen is based on the Pay Commission recommendations of the time when they had retired.
