Russia’s doping scandal cast a long shadow over this year’s Rio Olympics. Most Russian athletes were banned from participating in the Games. Now, a group of hackers, possibly from Russia, has revealed that top US athletes also tested positive for controlled substances, albeit with therapeutic use exemptions that allowed them to take banned substances for legitimate reasons. Moscow has denied US accusations that it was involved in the cyber-attack while the International Olympic Committee and the US Anti-Doping Agency have condemned the leak. We ask our panelists Yan Qiang from Score Sports, Rick Dunham from Tsinghua University and Dmitry Babich from Sputnik International News Agency if the doping bans are about sports or politics.
