Arnab Goswami & Jayant Sinha On Budget 2016

Ahead of Budget, Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha in an exclusive interview with TIMES NOW told people to feel confident about the government and the economy of India. Asserting that the budget will be balanced, he said it is driven by what is best for people of India in the long term. He also mentioned that there is widespread national consensus on GST and that the economy is expected to grow at its full potential of 8-9 per cent. When asked about reforms, he said, “We are crystal clear when it comes to reforms, we are going ahead.” He further added that the government has taken an impactful reform agenda in the past two years and sector after sector, economy is going through a transformation process.” On the GST bill that has been stalled in the Parliament for a long time now, he said, “There is widespread consensus in the country that it should be passed. It is very destructive strategy that it hasn’t been passed in Rajya Sabha because of Congress’ views.” “Important for India to continue to be a stable heaven during turbulence in world economy,” he said when asked about the economy of the country and also added that it would grow at its full potential of 8-9 per cent. The guiding philosophy has been ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas’, said Sinha.
