Assam CM Tarun Gogoi Writes To President To Sack Assam Governor

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Sunday (November 29) urged President Pranab Mukherjee for his immediate intervention for replacement of Acting state Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya who has allegedly “converted his office into an annex of BJP office”. In a letter to the President today, Gogoi alleged the continuance of Acharya as in-charge Governor of Assam would cause immense difficulty in functioning of parliamentary democracy and create fissures in the state’s secular ethos. He today said, “He (Acharya) is behaving like RSS and his statement is not in interest of the entire country. We are against him continuing as the governor of Assam. He is only an acting governor and we have decided to take the matter with the president of india. And I hope a new governor is appointed.”
