As China’s economy continues to grow, more and more people are lured to work in the capital, even those who live outside it. Some 300,000 residents of a county in nearby Hebei province commute for hours every day to work in Beijing, seizing opportunities in the city while enjoying the lower cost of living in their hometown. As Yin Hang reports, this has prompted government to improve the city’s infrastructure while working to develop Yanjiao County into Beijing’s satellite city.
