Typhoon Chaba slammed across the Republic of Korea’s southern coast, leaving seven people dead and another three missing. The violent storm caused severe flooding in the port of Busan, the country’s second largest city, and the industrial city of Ulsan. Dozens of flights in and out of Jeju Island were cancelled, as Chaba packed winds up to 200 kilometers per hour. South Korean authorities said 2,500 schools had been closed, while tens of thousands of homes along the southern coast suffered power outages.
