At least two killed by third-most powerful storm to hit US mainland

Florida has been battered by Hurricane Michael, the third most powerful storm ever to strike the US mainland. At least two people have been killed. More than 700-thousand homes and businesses were without power early Thursday in Florida, Alabama and Georgia. Michael has now headed northeast toward the Carolinas and been downgraded to a tropical storm. Thousands have gathered in shelters overnight to escape the fast-approaching storm. The US National Hurricane Center said Michael would dump as much as 8 inches of rain along its path.
