Athens finds Christmas spirit at end of difficult year

Despite the hard year, hundreds of Athenians go out to the streets of the Greek capital to do their Christmas shopping.

“Our economic power is reduced. Therefore we are pickier and our gifts are more special. Perhaps this is most important and significant because we choose more carefully and are more specific in what we want.”

“The situation is hard. We must reduce our expenses a lot. But I believe that we must be patient. Only that way we could overcome the difficulties.”

Shopper
“There are not so many customers as a decade ago. Of course, we have many problems due to the economic crisis. I wish that everything will go better for all of us.”

Shopper
“The prices are a bit lower, I think, but if you are looking for bargains. We are all looking for bargains at this time, so we can find lower prices even of meat or vegetables, fresh fruits and everything else.”
