Aung San Suu Kyi becomes Myanmar’s state counselor

Myanmar’s government said on Wednesday that Aung San Suu Kyi has been appointed as the country’s state counselor, a new position established just for her. Suu Kyi also is Myanmar’s foreign minister and minister of the president’s office. Suu Kyi’s appointment has been passed by both Houses and signed by President Htin Kyaw. She will be entitled to contacting government ministries, departments, organizations, associations and individuals for counsel.
