Aung San Suu Kyi blames lack of safety regulations for deadly landslide

Myanmar’s pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi said on Thursday that a disregard for the rule of law in the jade mining industry has made accidents a common occurrence. More than 100 people were killed on Saturday when a landslide buried a migrant workers’ makeshift settlement in Hpakant, in Kachin state.
