Aung San Suu Kyi’s trusted aide Htin Kyaw sworn in as Myanmar’s new Pres

Htin Kyaw of the National League for Democracy (NLD), led by Aung San Suu Kyi, was sworn in on Wednesday as Myanmar’s new president.

Aung San Suu Kyi is the first president with no military ties in more than half a century in the country.

Htin Kyaw, a trusted aide of Suu Kyi, was hand-picked by her to run Myanmar’s government because a constitution drafted by the former junta bars the democracy champion from the top office.
