On the morning of June 16, Argentina’s population of 44 million, along with those in parts of Uruguay and Paraguay, were hit by a massive blackout. Tens of millions of people were left without water, phone or Internet connection, and no means of public transportation. Power was eventually restored that same night.
It is still unclear what actually caused the unprecedented outage, and an official investigation is underway, with results expected in 10 to 15 days.
