“Avant-garde soup kitchen”! Italian celebrity chef dishes up excess Olympic food to Rio’s homeless

Declaring war on waste! World-famous chef Massimo Bottura, together with Brazilian chef David Hertz, has set up “Refettorio Gastromotiva” in Rio de Janeiro, which turns excess food from Olympic caterers to gourmet meals for some of the most vulnerable people – the homeless and the poor. They aim to produce some 5,000 meals daily using the ingredients that would otherwise head for the garbage bin. Click this video and find out what Bottura has said about this project.
