Iraqi air forces on Sunday struck a convoy of the Islamic State’s top leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
A statement said that Baghdadi was heading to a meeting near the town of Qaim on the border with Syria when the attack occurred.
The military said it is unknown whether Baghdadi was killed or wounded.
But according to Reuters, Iraqi security officials said on Monday that it was unlikely that Baghdadi was present during strikes.
That means for now, the Islamic State leader’s fate is a mystery.
