Ban Ki-moon calls for bold climate action at Paris climate talks

UN Secretary-Genral Ban Ki-moon calls for bold climate action at the UN climate change conference in Paris.

“The time for brinksmanship is over,” says Ban, “Let us build a durable climate regime that all countries can agree to follow.”

Around 150 heads of state or government are gathering for the UN conference, officially called the 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, or COP 21.

The highly-anticipated meeting aims to yield a new international agreement to reduce greenhouse gases beyond 2020, when the 1997 Kyoto Protocol expires.
