Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday (October 27) tried to play down the checks conducted by Delhi police at Kerala house over serving beef. “Police went there, made inquiry and came back, did not do anything to my knowledge. Some one wanted to create trouble and police got information about it, so they just went there to enquire,” Naidu said. Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi also defended the raid. “It was not a raid. It was in fact a preventive measure as per our standing operating procedures,” he said. Earlier, Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy condemned the “raid” as “unfortunate”. He was also backed by his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal who said the police action was an “attack on the federal structure.”
