“I looked up and saw three heads bumping up and down in the river.”

Li barely had a second thought before he jumped into the waters and swam towards the three boys.

“I swam towards them, and grabbed one boy’s hand. I dragged him to the shore. Then I swam over again and dragged another boy to the bank.”

Despite being honored a hero by locals, Li says he feels guilty, as he wasn’t able to save the third boy, because he went down into the river before he could reach him.
