Brazil issues cultural passports ahead of 2016 Olympics

The government of Rio de Janeiro has issued a Cultural Passport as part of its efforts to promote Brazilian culture during the upcoming 2016 Summer Olympics in August. During the Olympics, passport holders can enjoy free admission to many cultural events and activities, as well as discounts on subway rides and entrance fees to scenic spots, museums, and restaurants. The passport will be provided to Brazilians for free, and foreigners can apply online at a cost of 4.2 US dollars.
