Brazil police detain 17 in Sao Paulo bus fare protest

Brazil police have detained 17 people who were protesting against hikes in bus fares in Sao Paulo on Tuesday. Police used tear gas and stun grenades to end the demonstration. About 3,000 people took part in the rally. Brazilians have been angered by the increase in public transport prices, with inflation running at more than 10 percent even as the economy stalls and unemployment rises.
