“I do not think that playing at home will pose any difficulty, for all the players from different teams are very well prepared. Our goal is to seek medals, perform well for the first competition (against China), and keep on trying all the way until reaching the final.”

The Brazilians know what they are up against, since 5 of the 22 team members currently play for Chinese clubs.

“Well, since you are in a country, you learn from a country, learn their culture, learn their language, and also see their football.”

The team is now training in Itu in the southeastern state of Sao Paulo, looking prepared and confident.

“It’s not just a one-way street. It is a two-way street. Just as we have information about our girls who play there, China will have information about us.”

However, he doesn’t think it will be an easy battle.

“China has a very good offensive ability, with tall and efficient players, who are good technically.”

The women’s lineup was just released several days ago by the Brazilian Football Confederation, and this competitive team is expecting difficult confrontation.

“The field and the weather won’t have too much influence. The athletes are the decisive factor. What will determine the victory are their effort and inspiration and the best time. I would say that we have 8 out of 12 golden selections. They are very balanced selections.”

The match will take place two days before the opening ceremony on August 5.
As the host team, the pressure is on Brazil.

“In the game we have no friendship. There is only rivalry. Outside or after the game, we talk with each other, like hello or nihao, but inside we are concentrated without the friendship thing.”
