British museum loans back rare Australian artefacts for display

The British Museum is returning some rare indigenous artefacts to Australia, even if it’s only on loan. The 151 items on loan include masks, weapons, artworks, and ceremonial objects. An exhibition featuring these artefacts, called “Encounters” is currently underway in Australia. The exhibition is seen as a progressive step in the long and complex debate over the rightful home for indigenous artefacts.
