Budget 2016: Minimum pay set at RM1,000

Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announces that “effective from 1 July 2016, the national minimum wage will be increased from RM900 to RM1,000 per month for Peninsular Malaysia and from RM800 to RM920 for Sabah, Sarawak and the Federal Territory of Labuan”. He also says “to reduce the burden of rising cost of living, the Government agrees to provide a special assistance of RM500 to all civil servants”.
