Can Russia’s space program survive major budget cuts?

Russia was the first to put an object in orbit, send humans into space, and mastermind the space walk. But with a tanking economy space exploration may now be a luxury that Russia can no longer afford. The next five years will see massive cuts and the space program looks set to become a shadow of its former self. Yang Yuguang from the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation, Sputnik International’s Dmitry Babich, and John Logsdon from George Washington University discuss whether this really is the death knell of the nation’s cosmic industry.
