Canada wildfire: damage on oil output is severe

Fort McMurray, which has been evacuated because of the wildfire, is the center of Canada’s oil sands region. Foreign investment – including from China – help build some of these mines, and its production is expected to triple by 2030. But with its workers having fled, about half of its crude output has been taken off-line, cutting the region’s crude output by half. That’s an estimated one million barrels per day.
