The nearly decade-long career of Shaktimaan, a stately white horse with the Uttarakhand Police, came to an unfortunate end after it was attacked and severely injured in the leg allegedly by BJP members protesting against the Harish Rawat Government in Dehradun on Monday (March 14). Vets attending to the horse said its leg will have to be amputated. The protesters, led by BJP MLA from Mussoorie Ganesh Joshi, first allegedly attacked a police team near the state assembly building while demonstrating against what they said were the failures of the Congress government in the state. Soon, for reasons best known to them, they targeted the horse and rained several blows on its legs, bringing down the bleeding 13-year-old animal to the ground as it writhed in pain, unable to move. “Shaktimaan has suffered multiple fractures, including a compound fracture, and was been taken to a veterinary hospital.
