Carnival opens tourist season in small Serbian town

With a carnival procession comprised of participants from Serbia and the region, the small town of Bela Crkva (Zeekva) in northeast Serbia started another tourist season sticking to the traditions that last for more than one and a half century.

From June 22, the town, home to some 10,000 people near the Serbian border with Romania, enjoys in the first rush of tourists that come here to camp along its seven lakes, visit the National Park, or to fish or go sightseeing along the River.
