Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive Carrie Lam has reiterated her government’s position on security issues. Addressing a press briefing, Lam said the government would continue to make all-out efforts to protect human rights and freedom of Hong Kong residents, adding that freedom is guaranteed in the Basic Law and the Hong Kong Bill of Rights Ordinance. She pointed out that about 6,000 people have been arrested, nearly 40 percent of whom are students, including students from more than 300 middle schools. She also called on foreign governments and institutions to stop interfering in Hong Kong affairs.
